Traditional Orthodontics
For children and young teens, Dr. Hagerty often suggests traditional orthodontics, or braces, to straighten a smile and ensure proper jaw alignment. Wires threaded through brackets bonded to the front of teeth exert gentle, constant pressure to gradually move teeth into their desired position. Treatment time varies and can range from 12 to 24 months, depending on the patient’s age and orthodontic needs.

Invisalign Clear Braces
Want a virtually invisible way to straighten your teeth? Older teens or adults often want a more discreet way to straighten their smile. Invisalign is an attractive alternative to traditional orthodontics. Instead of wires and brackets, you’ll wear nearly invisible acrylic aligners to comfortably coax your teeth into proper alignment. The aligners are removable, so you can take them out to brush your teeth, eat a meal, or attend a special event. You’ll receive a series of aligners that you’ll switch out every couple weeks to gently and discreetly straighten your teeth. You can expect to achieve your ideal smile in 6 to 18 months.
